Black Sea Seeds (BSS), a JV between De Bolster and ICS Eco-Economic, was set-up in February 2012 in Moldova. In spring 2012 BSS planted 80 seed varieties on approximately 40 ha, with five farmers. Harvest was poor due to droughts.
This year BSS has 39.75 ha planted with 65 different seed crops, all grown organically and the majority certified. For the second crop for 2013 BSS planned another 12.33 ha with 47 multi-annual and bi-annual crops.
